Events & Sponsorships
JVC is proud to sponsor Randy Ferbey, Team Glenn Howard and our new member Team Kelly Scott for the 2009 - 2010 Curling Season.
In the fall of 1991, JVC sponsored its first competitive curling team, the Mike Harris Team from Toronto. They were a young, hungry squad that gained in experience year after year. The foursome, with skip Mike Harris, 3rd Richard Hart, 2nd Collin Mitchell and Lead George Karrys went on to a stellar career, capped by winning the Olympic Silver Medal at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. In 1999, JVC committed support to Team Kim Gellard, thus forming one men's team and one women's team under JVC sponsorship.
In the fall of 2001, JVC sponsored Team Kelley Law from British Columbia, with 3rd Julie Skinner, 2nd Georgina Wheatcroft, Lead Diane Nelson and 5th player Cheryl Noble. The team enjoyed an outstanding season, including winning the Olympic Bronze Medal for Canada at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Now in its 19th year of supporting Canadian curling and its athletes, JVC supports three teams in the 2009-2010 Olympic season. These teams regularly compete on the World Curling Tour, as well as in high-profile made-for-TV events such as the skins games and the the Continental Cup.
Team Ferbey
Skip: 3rd: 2nd Lead: Randy Ferbey David Nedohin Randy Ferbey Marcel Rocque
When Randy Ferbey, David Nedohin, Scott Pfeifer and Marcel Rocque joined forces in 1999, nobody could have imagined how quickly the foursome would establish themselves as one of the most dominant curling teams in the world.
This Edmonton-based team has an impressive record of achievement that has eluded every curling team worldwide. In 2005 they won their fourth Brier title in five years, as well as their third World championship in that time. They have won Canada Cups, Continental Cups, TV skins games and were recently voted the Alberta curling team of the century.
Team Ferbey played in the Canadian Olympic Trials and lost in the playoff. Their next competition will be Canada Cup in Kamloops, B.C. (February 26 - March 2, 2010)
