In the fall of 1991, JVC sponsored its first competitive curling team, the Mike
Harris Team from Toronto. They were a young, hungry squad that gained in
experience year after year. The foursome, with skip Mike Harris, 3rd Richard
Hart, 2nd Collin Mitchell and Lead George Karrys went on to a stellar career,
capped by winning the Olympic Silver Medal at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in
Nagano, Japan.
In 1999, JVC committed support to Team Kim Gellard, thus forming one men's team
and one women's team under JVC sponsorship.
In the fall of 2001, JVC sponsored Team Kelley Law from British Columbia, with
3rd Julie Skinner, 2nd Georgina Wheatcroft, Lead Diane Nelson and 5th player
Cheryl Noble. The team enjoyed an outstanding season, including winning the
Olympic Bronze Medal for Canada at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake
City, Utah.
Now in its 17th year of supporting Canadian curling and its athletes, JVC
supports three teams for the 2008 curling season. These teams regularly compete
on the World Curling Tour and Canadian championships, as well as in
high-profile made-for-TV events such as the TSN Skins Game and the Continental
Cup.
